Description:
Because trees are rooted in and can't run for cover, they had to develop amazing strategies to fight off infection, disease, and decay.
Having an understanding of how trees defend and protect themselves helps us better manage and even prevent our trees from getting diseases and other problems.
With this APA Tree Talk we'll take a dive into the many ways trees use defense compounds, barrier zones, and how endophytes in wood play a big role in that process, much like the ways mycorrhiza fungi aid in root function. We'll then look at what practices and care we can use for a more holistic approach to managing tree health.
