SMA’s EAB Position Paper and Toolbox: Why Confidence, Competence, and Camaraderie Matters
Summary
In 2011, the Society of Municipal Arborists created an EAB Position Paper that promotes ash canopy conservation as an ecologically and economically sound management option. Dr. Deb McCullough, Michigan State University, reviews the supporting research. Dr. Krista Ryall, Canadian Forest Service, reviews the Branch Sampling Method that detects EAB at low populations. Joe Meating, President, BioForest Technologies, focuses on Ash Tree Treatment to meet objectives through a Strategic EAB Management/Work Plan. John McNeil, Town of Oakville, Past President of SMA, summarizes how all the tools in “SMA’s EAB Toolbox” have been applied.
