Results of a Literature Review-Cost of not maintaining Trees

    Summary

Existing urban forest literature is strongest in its quantification and qualification of the benefits and care of trees, and not in its ability to assess the results of lack of investment in trees. This talk presents the results of a literature review on the costs, commissioned by the ISA Science and Research Committee.

We will discuss insights gained from literature in four main topic areas: biological aspects of tree care, management/institutional aspects of tree care, economic aspects of tree care, and, finally, lessons from outside the field of arboriculture and urban forestry.
