Urban Trees Are Not Stand-Alone Structures: Improving Knowledge of Tree Mechanical Stability by Considering Local Environmental Conditions

    Summary

Urban trees are an integral part of the physical environment. Therefore, when determining the mechanical stability of any tree, an arborist needs to examine the environment and physical surroundings in which the tree is situated. Only by taking into account the ecological context, the substrate, and the immediate and distant infrastructure can arborists make informed decisions about tree mechanical safety.
