Walter A Sherry, Jr. – Forestry Operations
Manager, American Electric Power
In his current position Walter is
responsible for overseeing AEP's corporate vegetation management program. This includes managing the transmission
forestry program, strategic relationship with contractors and coordinating these
activities with our operating companies.
Prior to this position
Walter held the position of utility business development manager responsible
for activities in AEP OH, I&M and KY.
Walter has 27
years of experience in business development, customer relations and T&D
engineering experience. He began his
career in 1987 as a distribution engineer in the Charleston Division,
Appalachian Power Company. Throughout
his career Walter has held numerous positions developing relations with our
customers and providing them with engineering and construction services.
Walter received a bachelor's degree
in electrical engineering in 1987 from West Virginia and a master's degree in
engineering management from Marshall University located in Huntington, WV in
1995. Walter completed The Ohio State University’s
AEP Management Program and is a member of the International Electronic and
Electrical Engineers (IEEE) association. He is a retired Army National Guard
Lieutenant Colonel.
He lives in
Galena, Ohio with his wife Jeanne.
