Ascent Event: It's Not Just Footlocking Anymore
Summary
The past years have been witness to a rapid evolution of
the range of tools and techniques available to arborists. A variety of ascent
techniques are being increasingly used by tree climbers to ascend into the
canopy of a tree. As the ISA’s International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC)
reflects best work practices, the decision has been made to move toward an
Ascent Event versus Secured Footlock to allow competitors to use a wide range
of dedicated ascent techniques that are now being used in the tree care
industry. The presentation will discuss the proposal for the change and outline
how the format reflects best practices.
