Description:
This short course is for arborists, landscapers, IPM consultants, horticulturalists, and others responsible for urban plant management. The course LECTURES will be VIRTUAL (live online, over six mornings). There is an optional IN-PERSON LAB held over two days on the UMD campus in College Park, MD USA (available to a limited number of course attendees). Lectures will focus on landscape plant IPM with an emphasis on insect and disease pest management. Topics covered include: Introduction to IPM, diagnostics and damage symptoms (pests and abiotic), biology and management of key insect and disease pests, biological control and sustainable pest management, and business aspects of IPM. The optional Lab will focus on diagnostics of plant problems and insect / mite identification using live and other specimens, and interactive activities.
