Description:
This is a pre-conference workshop, part of the American Public Gardens Association Annual Conference. Trees in public gardens inspire strong connections between visitors and the landscape. Trees provide countless ecological and social benefits, especially those that are healthy and long-lived. However, trees can also present a distinct set of risks. What questions should you be asking about tree risk in public spaces? How can you help manage a living collection in a way that ensures not only the longevity of the tree, but also the safety of people in the garden? Whether considering tree risk issues for your site is something you've always been meaning to start, need to refresh, or want to bring to a higher level, this workshop will provide a framework for making decisions and allocating time and resources in an effective way.
