Tree Academy: Epcot® Arboriculture Tour:
Disney’s Magical Trees
This workshop will begin with a walking tree tour of
Epcot's World Showcase highlighting arboricultural practices at the
world-famous destination. After lunch (included in the cost of the workshop)
indoor presentations will be held at the Odyssey Events Pavilion. At the
conclusion of the workshop at 4:00 pm, attendees will be transported back to
Gaylord Palms.
*Buses will depart Gaylord Palms at 7:40 am. Attendees
must arrive to Epcot via the bus from the Gaylord Palms because the group will
be on the premises prior to the opening of the park. Workshop attendees will
exit the park and return to the buses for transportation back to Gaylord Palms
at the conclusion of the educational instruction at 4:00 pm.
Schedule:
7:45 am Buses leave from Gaylord Palms
8:00 am Buses arrive at Epcot.
8:15 am – 10:45 am One bus stop at each of these four locations - Odyssey, Germany, American Adventure, and United Kingdom to spread out groups (4 buses total). Divide each bus into 2 groups (25 each group) (2.5 hours)
10:45 am – 11:15 am Break at Odyssey
11:15 am – Noon Disney’s Magical Tree Heritage (Debbie Mola Mickler, Planned Work Specialist, Disney’s Horticulture Services, Walt Disney World)
Noon – 1pm Lunch with Flower Festival CD playing from 12:30 to 1pm
1:00 pm – 1:45 pm Theming the Magic- Using Trees to Tell the Story (Jeff Thompson, Staff Landscape Architect, Walt Disney World)
1:45 pm- 2:30 pm The Magic of Disney’s Tree Care (Gary Gavin, Area Manager Arboriculture, Walt Disney World)
2:30 – 2:45 pm Break
2:45 pm – 3:30 pm Sustaining the Magic- Special Challenges of Disney’s UrbanForest (Scott Shultz, Urban Forester, Walt Disney World)
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm Load buses at back of Odyssey and head back to Gaylord Palms
