In Northern Europe, Veteran Tree Management and retaining old trees for habitat reasons has been preached and practiced for more than a decade. We have all heard the concepts, benefits and reasons for thinking about and perhaps recommending the idea. But what about the people who may get asked to implement the concept and ideas in practice.
In this talk, I will outline my own work and experience in this field as a climbing arborist, look at an approach from the contractors point of view, with regard to selling the idea to clients or how to plan the work and quote for the work if it is offered or requested. The safety aspects of working in old veteran trees, and how to execute the specified terms and applications, such as monoliths, retrenchment, restoration, habitat creation, conservation dead wooding, coronet cuts, etc. safely effectively and to give most benefit to the tree, client and your business.
An interactive and dynamic key note presentation with video and animation to move the subject forward to provoke thought, a deeper understanding and confidence in the application of the concepts and ideas.
