Gregory Moore

Greg Moore, a Senior Research Associate of Burnley College, University of Melbourne was Principal of Burnley from 1988 to 2007, and Head of the School of Resource Management at the University from 2002 to 2007. He has been a regular on Melbourne radio, particularly with ABC 774 and 3AW for over twenty years. He has contributed to the development of Australian Standards in Pruning, Tree Selection, Protection of Trees on development Sites and Amenity Tree Valuation and has been a speaker at conferences in Australia, Israel, Hong Kong, USA and New Zealand. He has served on a number of industry and education committees, especially those that deal with curriculum and accreditation matters. He wrote the first Diploma of Arboriculture curriculum in 1984 for a course that commenced in 1985 and was offered for over twenty years and he wrote the curriculum for the Advanced Certificate in arboriculture in 1986, which later became the national Certificate level 4 in arboriculture. With a general interest in horticultural plant science, revegetation and ecology, Greg is interested in all aspects of arboriculture. He was inaugural president of the International Society of Arboriculture, Australian Chapter, and has been a member of the National Trust of Victoria’s Register of Significant Trees since 1988 and its chair since 1996. He was on the Board of Greening Australia (Victoria) from 1988 to 2013 and has chaired Treenet since 2005. He is on the board of Sustainable Gardening Australia and is a trustee of the Trust for Nature and is a ministerial appointee to the Yarra Park Advisory Committee. He has published 2 books, 4 book chapters and over 140 papers and articles related to the biology and management of trees.
